The countdown has begun towards the 2023 ODI World Cup, unleashing the cricket fever. The International Cricket Council has released the World Cup ODI schedule for this grand event consisting of 48 matches. Let’s take a look at the upcoming cricketing calendar.
Thrilling Round-Robin Format:
Ten teams, including two qualifiers, will participate in an exciting ‘all-play-all’ format during the league phase, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. Each team will have a minimum of nine matches, resulting in a total of 45 captivating league encounters. The ten teams participating in the World Cup are:
1. India
2. Australia
3. Afghanistan
4. Pakistan
5. Bangladesh
6. New Zealand
7. England
8. South Africa
9. Qualifier 1
10. Qualifier 2

Qualifiers:
The last two teams will be determined from the ongoing qualifying event among the ten teams in Zimbabwe. The names of the two qualifying teams will be announced on July 7’2023
India’s Match Schedule:
India will commence their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8 and face Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 15. The clash with Pakistan remains the most eagerly awaited match of the group stages. Notably, India has never lost to Pakistan in an ODI World Cup in their seven encounters in the 50-over format.
Ten Venues:
The World Cup matches will be held across ten venues viz Delhi, Dharamsala, Lucknow, Ahemdabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. Except for Hyderabad, each venue will proudly host at least one match, showcasing India’s uniqueness.
